Chengdu B2B Travel Service and other members of B2B Travel Group gathered in Lijiang Old Town Nov.2019 for the CITM(China International Travel Mart) conference. Together, we had a wonderful tour of Lijiang old town and the famous Jade Snow Dragon. After the meeting, we firsted visited Lijiang old town. It is also called Dayan Old Town, which is a very well-preserved ancient town for Naxi ethnic group. It includes Dayan Old Town, Shuhe Old Town and Baisha Old Town, Lijiang old twon was listed as UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 1997.
The old streets are the veins of the old town, while the flowing water running through the ancient city is the blood. The bars and shops are the temperament and the Naxi folk customs and culture are the soul of Lijiang Old Town. Hearing some soft music, we walked up into a pub and ordered some beer. Driking and chatting with all the friends while listening to the singers' lyrics songs, we were all deeply immersed in Lijiang's romantic evening. Visitors can not only explore the amazing ancient town, but also experience the spirit and feel romantic, relaxing charm of the town without city walls.I was very impressed by this clean, leisure and charming city.
The next day, we drove to the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (Yulong Snow Mountain), it is said that Jade Dragon Snow Mountain has the southernmost glacier in the Northern Hemisphere. The mountain range includes 13 peaks, among which Shanzidou is the highest, over 5,600 meters high (18,360 feet), Jade Dragon Snow Mountain stretches 35 kilometers (22 miles) with a width of 20 kilometers (13 miles). We stayed in Lijiang Guanfang hotel boasting the highest building in the Old Town, from where we can see
the snow-capped peaks and fog-enlaced mountain ranges. The whole mountain resembles a dragon cared out of jade lying in the clouds loo, hence people call it the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.
It only took us half an hour driving to the foot of the mountain, then we changed to the local sightseeing bus to the cable car station which is located at an area of 3,500 meters high. Even it was not in the peak travel season, we still queued up for more than 30 minutes for the cable car up to the platform to watch the glaciers. The ropeway has a sharp rising-up of more than 1000 meters in just a 10 minutes riding. Getting down the cable car, we had very friendly weather, the sky is as blue as sea water, some while clouds randomly floating around the snow peaks. The 13 peaks, which have the altitudes of at least 4,000 meters, are all covered by snow . Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is called the "Natural Glacier Museum" for it has all types of glacier. Move down from the mountaintop and you can see rivers and pools, which are formed by the thawed snow water running along the valley and through the forests.
Afterwards, we went down the moutain and arrived at an open outdoor theatre for a show 'Lijiang Impression'. The show is very ingeniously created by a world famous Chinese director Zhang Yimou, the real natural snow moutain is designed as the background of the show. All of the actors and actress are local ethnic group people such as Naxi, Yi and Tibetan. It tells visitors how the locals live there harmoniously with the nature. Their dancing and singing warmly welcome the visitors from home and abroad.
