Tibet, long been called the roof of the world, is a pure spiritual land where many people dream to visit, to experience the pious belief of Buddhism of local Tibetans, to discover the primitive landscape on the plateau. The most renowned attractions and destinations such as Lhasa, Shigatse, Mt. Everest and Namtso Lake are all covered in this tour. The tour will impress people by both natural and cultural sites, it is also strongly recommended to photographers.

ITINERARY

D 1Arrive in Lhasa, pick-up service.

Arrive in Lhasa  by train/flight, the guide will meet you and transfer to your hotel, enjoy the view of Yarlung Tsangpo River(Bhamaputra river, the longest and largest river in Tibet)  and Lhasa river on their way to Lhasa.

Have a rest and get acclimatized to high altitude in the rest of the day,  for visitors eager to explore this mysterious land, you can visit the Potala Square, where you will enjoy the fountain with different colors and get amazing photos of the Potala and around, but please BE NOTED TO SLOW DOWN YOUR PACES, as for the new-comers of Tibet,  to get acclimatized to the high altitude is crucial for the next few days' activity.

D 2Lhasa Tour - Potala Palace, Johkang Temple, and Barkhor Street (B, D)

Today, we will firstly visit the Potala Palace which is the winter palace of the Dalai lama. It was completed in the 7th Century during the reign of the 33rd great king of Tibet. The most valuable collections of Potala Palace are the gilded burial stupas of former Dalai Lamas and meditation Cave of the 33rd great king of Tibet.

After lunch, head to Jokhang temple which was founded in the 7th century too. Inside the temple, the real image statue of Buddha Sakyamuni at the age of twelve is on display and considered to be the treasure of the temple. Outside of the temple, groups of pilgrims making prostrating in front of Jokhang Temple. The famous Barkhor street is encircled the Jokhang temple, where you can do kora (a religious meditation circling a building or mountain considered to be holy) with pilgrims and locals, and explore the old market.

Afterwards, we can taste Tibetan tea with locals in tea house; then have a welcome dinner.

Optional:
Time permits, you may  visit Tibetan handicraft art or Tibetan Traditional Medicine center, in the evening you can enjoy Tibetan Culture Show for the nightlife.

D 3 Lhasa- Shigatse via Gyantse (360 km)

Today, we will leave Lhasa for Shigatse city, lakes and snow-capped mountains are along the way. First, drive across the Gampala pass (4790 m), then you will have a glimpse of Yamdroktso lake, considering to be one of the holy lakes in Tibet .The Lake is surrounded by many snow-capped mountains and in the distance you can have spectacular views of Holy Mount Nyenchen Khangsar, (7191m) the highest mountain near Lhasa .

Afterwards, we will pass and enjoy the Korola Glacier on the roadside,  at Manak Dam Lake, you can hang pray flag at Simila Mountain Pass, then, arrive in Gyantse, historically Tibet's third largest city (after Lhasa and Shigatse). In Gyantse, we will visit the famous Pelkor Monastery and Gyantse Kumbum and enjoy the Far view of Gyangtse Fortress.

Continue our driving for about 1.5 hours, we finally arrive in Shigatse, which is the second largest city in Tibet, visit traditional Barley Mill and view the landscape of Barley Field (in summer).

D 4Shigatse (3900m) to Everest Base Camp(5200) (B)

In the morning, we will visit the dwelling and religious site of Panchan Lama - Tashilunpo Monastery, built by the first Dalai Lama in 1447. Then, we'll leave Shigatse after getting your Alien’s travel permit, and then drive to Lhatse, it is a small town where you can have lunch.

Afterwards, we will passs over some mountain passes such as Tsola Pass(4600M), and Gyatsola Pass(5248M). Shortly after we enter Mt. Everest National Nature Reserve, tourists can enjoy the panorama of Himalaya at Gawula Pass(5198m); then we drive along the New zigzagging road to Everest Base Camp(5200m), have a closer observation of the Mt. Everest peak. If the weather is friendly with us, wee can see the sunset of golden Everest peak which could be an magnificent onece a life experience.

D 5Everest Base Camp (5200m) and return to Shigatse (3900m)

In the morning, we can see the sunrise of Everest Peak in good weather. Then we will visit the Rongbu Monastery - the unique highest monastery with nuns and monks living together. Finally, we will drive back to Shigatse and stay overnight there.

D 6Shigatse (3900m) to Lhasa (3650m)350km(B)

Today, we will drive back to Lhasa following Yalong River Valley, on the way, we will stop at some places which are good to take pictures, such as the Yalong River viewing platform to seethe  vast Yalong River bed. Finally the guide will transfer you back to your hotels in Lhasa.

D 7 Lhasa to Namtso Lake (250km, 5 hours ) (B)

After having breakfasts in the hotel, we will start driving from Lhasa to Namtso Lake, one of the four holy lakes of Tibet and also the highest saline lake in the world. On the way, you can see snow-capped Nyenchen Thanglha Mountain Ranges and lots of nomads and their tent with grazing yak and sheep densely-populated on the flourishing grassland ( in summer) . The world-known Sky-road Qingzang Railway paralles to the road  we are driving on,  with snow mountais as its background;  while standing at the famous Lagenla Mountain Pass(5190m), you can view the stunning vista of holy Namtso Lake. 

Then we can do leisure trek around Tashi Island and enjoy sunset of Namtso. In the evening, we enjoy night view of the milky way at the lake shore.

D 8Namtso Lake back to Lhasa via Yampachen (230km,5 hours )

Enjoy the sunrise view of the Namtso Lake at the lake shore, you can trek along the lake shore to Tashi Dor Island to explore the meditation caves. Drive to Dumxung to have lunch.

In the afternoon, you may enjoy Yangpachen hot spring (Optional,Price $25 not included in package) and have both indoor and outdoor swimming pool filled with hot springs water. Finally, head back to Lhasa.
